We are a coastal rowing club situated on Fisherman’s Green, Eastbourne, approximately 1 mile east of the pier.
Eastbourne Rowing Club has a family feel and community focus and welcomes new members of all abilities and experience levels, whether you are wanting to keep fit, try a new sport, stay social or get competitive. The club has seen many new friendships form over the years and is a great way of staying active.
We have a wide range of members from juniors (14+) to masters 50+ age groups, both for men and women. We mostly train in “Coastal 4s” which are boats with a crew consisting of four rowers and a coxswain and, once members are competent, we also provide coaching in “doubles” and single sculls.

We run club sessions on weekday evenings and on Sunday mornings. In the Summer months, sessions are predominantly on the sea, however, we always have an indoor alternative available. In the Winter, training tends to be a mixture of indoor training (‘erging’ on rowing machines, circuit training, strength and conditioning and stretching) and outdoor training on the river focused on rowing techniques and technical drills.
The club is affiliated with the Coast Amateur Rowing Association (CARA) and throughout the summer months, those who wish to compete, attend regattas at coastal rowing clubs based along the South-East Coast of England, from Herne Bay in Kent to Southsea in Hampshire.
The highlight of the year is our annual regatta, regardless of whether you choose to race, this is a great day for all our members.
We welcome everyone to come for a trial session before signing up for our membership. Please contact us via secretary@eastbournerc.co.uk to book.
